Austrade Chengdu office has a job vacancy as a Business Development Manager.

This position is a business development role in Austrade West China team to primarily undertake a range of client service workin the Health and Education sectors under guidance from the Trade Commissioner and Industry Team Leaders.

Commencement salary for this role is CNY101,780 per annum, salary adjustment to CNY119,741 may be applicable subject to positive assessment after six months probationary period.Austrade provides 20 days annual leave, supplementary medical insurance andother benefits.

1. Duties

  • Undertake a range of client service work with guidance from your line and industry managers. This includes market research in health and education sectors, assessing and compiling company information, providing strategic advice to Australian companies seeking to develop business relationships and cooperate with Chinese companies, education institutions and government agencies.
  • Identify and capture opportunities to develop Australian exports to China by providing a wide range of services that add value to Australian companies and education institutions, in order to ensure the delivery of Austrade’s corporate objectives.
  • Develop new market contacts and networks and an ongoing understanding of the changing nature of the China market, as well as capabilities of Australian exporters.
  • Contribute todevelopment and implementation of post and industry team business plans.
  • Efficiently manage a constantly changing workload covering diverse industry sectors, largenumbers of clients/customers, within internally and externally driven timeframes.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing business matching activities such astrade displays, investor events and market visits.
  • Utilise internal databases and knowledge management systems to support work practices.
  • Maintain Austrade standards and implement its policies, including diversity in the workplace,ethical practice and occupational health and safety principles and compliance with audit requirements.

2. Selection Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a business development or related role, preferably in international or foreign government organizations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the benefits of international trade and capacity, especially the health and education sector, understand Australia’s competitive advantage and government policies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of or capability in learning about solutions to overcome problems to achieve business success.
  • Proven ability to think analytically with a pragmatic approach toproblem solving.
  • Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to successfully represent Australia and Austrade and the capacity to negotiate and communicate with stakeholders. Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese.

The Australian Embassy is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Manager, Research and Visits Unit. The position will be offered at LE8 level.

1. Management: 40%

The RVU Manager is a key (non-diplomatic) position within the mission. The successful applicant would manage a team with responsibility for supporting the political and economic sections of the mission by

— anticipating, collecting and evaluating publicly available information and analysis (using Chinese and English language sources) on issues relevant to Australia’s interests
— ensuring quality control of RVU product
— managing workloads to ensure efficient, timely and responsive delivery of RVU services.
— coordinating development needs and sustaining capacity by anticipating leave across the team.

The RVU manager reports to an Australian policy officer (diplomat).

2. Visits: 30%

The RVU manager ensures RVU provides high-quality support for high-level visits, in support of the political and economic teams. This includes, but is not limited to, helping to oversee program arrangements and logistics for high-level and other official visits, and managing the RVU’s production of visit program booklets. Assistance may also be requested from other agencies or in support of high-level Chinese government visits to Australia.

3. Research/Analysis 20%

The RVU Manager is responsible for directing unclassified research and analysis on topical issues in support of the work of the political and economic sections. An awareness of Australia’s foreign and economic priorities, or an ability to develop awareness, is important.

Oversee RVU’s translation/interpretation assignments, requests for appointments, production of programs, briefs.

The RVU Manager is also personally responsible for the daily production of a high-quality topical English language digest of political and economic issues which affect Australia’s national interests, drawing on media reporting, academic papers, speeches and official statements, and other relevant open source material.

4. Administration 5%

Oversee the maintenance of appropriate RVU reference materials. As appropriate, liaise with other attached agencies to share research-related resources. Ensure officers within the RVU adhere to Australian Government terms and conditions of employment, and relevant Embassy security policies and procedures.

5. Liaison 5%

Oversee RVU’s management of, and ensure the integrity of, contacts database.

2. Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications and ability to communicate at a high level (orally and written) in English essential. Ability to communicate at a high level (orally and written) High-level understanding of China’s political and economic environment and Australia’s interests.
  • Superior ability to manage a team in a busy and varied environment to produce high quality outcomes.
  • Strong ability to prioritise a busy workload, work under pressure and to deadlines with great attention to detail. Flexibility, adaptability and initiative.
  • Well-developed ability to undertake research and produce high-quality and regular analytical reports on issues of interest to the Australian Government, including foreign affairs and trade policy.

Administrative and Visa Service Officer

 

AUSTRALIAN CONSULATE-GENERAL IN SHANGHAI

The Visa Office of the Australian Consulate-General in Shanghai forms an integral part of the operations of the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection in China.

The Visa Office is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates. Successful candidates will be offered an initial contract of twelve months.

Applicants must be Chinese or Australian citizens. The salary offered is from CNY 132,930 per year.

The successful candidates will be expected to undertake the duties described below. This selection exercise will also be used to establish an order of merit for appointments at the Visa Office in the next 12 months.

1. Vise Officer Duties

  • Provide administrative services to Visa Office clients, both in person, through telephone, general correspondence and email.
  • Data entry, including registrations of visa applications, financial and file management.
  • Assist with the assessment of applications for Australian visas in accordance with Australian legislative and policy framework.
  • Translate documents from Chinese into English, or, from English into Chinese and to undertake interpreting duties as required.
  • Prepare correspondence, both in English and Chinese.
  • Assist in other administrative support duties, such as record keeping and file handling, as required.

2. Selection Criteria

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain high standards of client service.
  • High level written and oral English language skills and an ability to act as an interpreter and correspond in both English and Chinese.
  • An ability to understand, apply and communicate complex legal and policy directions.
  • An ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to cope with large volume of work while maintaining high standards of productivity and accuracy.
  • Capacity to work as a team member.
  • A tertiary educational qualification is preferred.
