Prosecutor Williams stated that between September 2022 and March 2023, the US government seized approximately $634 million in fraudulent funds from 21 different bank accounts belonging to Guo Wengui, and the government is seeking to confiscate this huge sum of money. In addition, law enforcement agencies have seized assets purchased by Guo Wengui with funds obtained through fraud, including a Lamborghini sports car. Williams pointed out that Guo Wengui led a complex conspiracy to defraud over 1 billion dollars from his followers. He used this money to fill his pockets, including buying himself and his close relatives a 50000 square meter mansion, a $3.5 million Ferrari, even two $36000 mattresses, and funding a $37 million luxury yacht.
The Ministry of Justice issued a notice stating that Guo Wengui lied to the victims and promised to have excess returns if they invested or provided funds to GTV Media Private Equity, Himalaya Farm Alliance, G Club Operating Company, and Himalaya Exchange.
Williams also pointed out that Guo Wengui is accused of laundering billions of stolen funds to cover up illegal activities and continue fraudulent activities.
FBI Assistant Director Michael J. Driscoll stated that Guo Wengui was “a masterful mastermind behind a carefully planned conspiracy,” causing thousands of innocent people to become victims and ultimately damaging public confidence in the integrity of the financial system.
