2014年1月24日至2月9日,地区之外规模最大的农历新年庆典活动将在澳大利亚第一大城市悉尼举行。

1月17日,悉尼市长摩尔(Clover Moore)宣布,除地区之外规模最大的农历新年庆典活动将于1月24日至2月9日在澳大利亚第一大城市悉尼举行。届时,悉尼的大街小巷和主要公共场所将80多项异彩纷呈的庆祝活动,涵盖艺术展、中国烹饪美食、茶文化和民间手工艺品展示、寺庙祈福, Lunar New Year feast, Dragon Boat Race, Lantern Parade, Golden Dragon Ball, Chinese Film Festival and other dazzling festive feasts, inject the auspicious atmosphere and strong New Year flavor into the city.

悉尼市市长摩尔在接受澳广采访时表示,与往年“农历新年庆典”的称谓不同的是,今年的庆典活动恢复启用“中国农历新年庆典”的名称。她表示,启用这个庆典名字是有历史渊源的,庆典活动始于18年前悉尼唐人街华人社区的一个中国新年庆祝活动,所以今年继续保留了这个名字。同时,悉尼府还邀请越南、韩国等同样过农历新年的悉尼亚洲社区参与其中。与往年的亚洲之外世界最大规模的农历新年活动的提法不同的是,今年的悉尼中国新年庆典将是除中国大陆之外世界最大规模的农历新年庆祝活动,摩尔市长对此表示,悉尼的农历新年庆祝活动一年比一年壮大,吸引着数十万各界参与,尤其是10年前府启用夜间花灯大巡游的模式以来,参与人数逐年增加。

It is reported that Sydney府为今年的庆典活动投入了230万澳元,预计将为新南士州带来高达700万澳元的收入。在2014马年悉尼中国新年庆典活动的媒体发布会所在的悉尼道教寺院青松观,摩尔市长还亲自进香撞钟,祈福来年。她表示,她祈愿世界和平、解决气候变化问题和社会公正。

悉尼道教寺院青松观负责人黎先生(Philip L)表示,这次是悉尼府首次在道教寺院举行农历新年的媒体发布会,他为悉尼府推广和包容道教和多元文化感到高兴。

中国驻悉尼总领事馆和驻澳大使馆是每年悉尼中国新年庆典活动的合作伙伴。中国驻悉尼总领事馆大使衔总领事李华新在接受澳广采访时介绍说,2014马年春节将有来自湖南、陕西和北京的数百名中国文艺团体的表演者,与悉尼华人华侨和当地一同庆祝中国传统,展示中国文化的“包容、和谐和团聚”的春节文化理念。
