The National Day holiday is approaching, and the NSW Police implemented the "Safe Return" operation to increase police force to crack down on illegal driving during the National Day long weekend.

The operation started at 12:01 am on Friday and lasted until 11:59 pm on Monday night.

During long weekends, speeding, not wearing a seat belt and not wearing a motorcycle helmet will be double penalized.

The police will focus on the "five deadly factors" that lead to car accidents: fatigue, speeding, driving after taking drugs or drinking, not wearing a seat belt, and inattention.
