On December 12, Ms. Joanne Zhou, the president of APEC Links, was invited to attend the second 6 million investment immigration information update exchange meeting held in Hong Kong by the Australian Immigration and Border Protection (formerly Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship) in Hong Kong. The exchange meeting was hosted by the immigration consul Erica Biddle and Monica Siu, the head of the 500 million investment immigrant visa application. The meeting mainly conducted in-depth exchanges on the following issues:

Latest data on 500 million immigration applications

·From November 2012, 11 to December 24, 2013, the latest data on 12 million investment immigration applications are as follows:

o A total of 865 letter of intent applications

o The Immigration Bureau issued a total of 668 invitation letters (after being nominated by the state government)

o A total of 545 visa applications were received (90% from China)

o9 applications rejected

o21 applications were cancelled

o 75 applications approved (87% from China)

Processing time:

·The official expected approval time of the Immigration Bureau averages 6 to 9 months.

·The average approval time is close to 5 months, which includes the time from the applicant receiving the investment invitation letter (pre-approval letter) to the actual investment (maximum 2 months), compared with the approval time of the same year ago Improved significantly.

·41% of the applications require less than 3 months for approval

·The Immigration Bureau recently made some adjustments to the application process:

o Once the visa application is submitted, if the applicant fails to submit the supporting documents within 2 weeks, the applicant will receive a reminder letter from the Immigration Bureau and give another 28 days; if the applicant is still unable to submit the documents within this period , The visa application may be revoked. If the applicant has good reasons, he can apply for an extension, but the extension usually does not exceed 7 days.

o After receiving the investment invitation letter, the applicant will have 28 days to complete the investment. If the applicant is unable to complete this requirement, he needs to prove to the Immigration Bureau that he has made an effort to extend the time to complete the investment again to a maximum of 70 days.

o The purpose of the above two adjustments is to speed up the time for the applicant to respond to the immigration office.

Provide complete information when submitting the visa application and ensure that the application is well prepared, which will greatly increase the speed of the immigration review.

List of Documents

· The Immigration Bureau has prepared a list of Chinese documents for the 500 million investment immigrant visa application, which will be uploaded to the official website of the Hong Kong Consulate later.

·The Immigration Bureau has noticed that the Form 80 provided by many applicants contains a lot of incomplete or inconsistent information, which has seriously delayed the processing time. Therefore, the Immigration Bureau provides the applicant with a guide for filling out Form 80 (please check the attachment).

·If the applicant cannot provide any of the documents on the document list, the applicant must provide a statement to explain to the immigration office. The Immigration Bureau will carefully consider the reasons.

·Although the visa officer of the Hong Kong consulate can speak Chinese, important documents on the document list must be translated into professional English.

·Form 1412 must be signed by the main applicant and all sub-applicants, and the originals must be returned to the immigration office before the visa can be obtained.

·Statement of assets and liabilities

o只需填写一次

o必须在递交申请前 3 个月内填写

o所有相关的支持文件均需注明统一日期。如日期有差异将不被接受。
