On the occasion of the 2014 Year of the Horse, good news came from the Melbourne Chinese community: Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Counselor of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Director of the Library of Fudan University, authoritative expert on Chinese history and geography, and PhD supervisor Professor Ge Jianxiong, At the invitation of the Australia-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, I will visit Melbourne in early February and hold lectures for overseas Chinese, give lectures on major historical and practical issues, and discuss issues of interest with Chinese compatriots and friends from all walks of life.

Professor Ge Jianxiong is a well-known professor, scholar, social scientist, historian, and social activist in China. He once gave a lecture on "Hundred Forums" and was a guest speaker of CCTV's "open talk". He participated in important programs such as CCTV, Phoenix TV, Hunan Satellite TV, and published more than 20 monographs. His works have won many national awards. Professor Ge has also made academic exchanges and lectures at Harvard University, Cambridge University and other well-known universities for many times, and was rated as a "Chinese PhD recipient with outstanding contributions" by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education.

Professor Ge's visit will be another Australian-Chinese cultural exchange activity led by famous and important scholars since Professor Dan's visit to Australia. It will have a profound impact on the cultural construction of the Chinese community.

The topic of Professor Ge Jianxiong's lecture in Australia was "The history and current situation of the East China Sea, the archipelago (mainly the Diaoyu Islands)". This is a hot topic that the world is paying attention to. As we all know, the Diaoyu Islands and the surrounding islands are China’s indivisible and sacred territory, but the increasingly right-leaning Japanese government, in order to realize its ambitions of expanding outwards and stealing resources from other countries, has continuously caused trouble on the Diaoyu Islands and tried to reverse the war of aggression against China. The case denies the new international order established after World War II. Regarding the reactionary arrogance of the Abe government, we must use hard facts to beat him down, and we must expose the lies spread by the Abe government to the governments and peoples of Asia, Europe, the Americas, including us, Australia, and the rest of the world. Reality takes justice!

Now, the Chinese embassies and consulates in various countries have taken action. They have taken the initiative to attack by the mainstream media in the country where they are located, which has produced excellent publicity effects. Professor Ge Jianxiong came to Melbourne in such a situation and will introduce the Diaoyu Islands and surrounding territorial waters, the history and current status of the airspace to the Chinese community and friends from all walks of life, and answer questions from friends. We hope that through Professor Ge’s speech and interactions with Chinese Australians, the Australian Chinese community and all walks of life will pay more attention to the issue of the sovereignty of the Diaoyu Islands in China. We will definitely strive for the Australian Chinese community, and even Australian governments at all levels to act justly against the Chinese government and people. Real results are achieved on support! We are looking forward to such a result, and welcome all compatriots and friends from all walks of life to listen to Professor Ge's wonderful speech.
