On April 4th, the Chongqing police confirmed that Zhou Yu, the head of the Economic Investigation Detachment of the Yuzhong District Public Security Bureau, who had contributed to the "Cracking Crime Campaign" in Chongqing, died in a hotel in Yuzhong District on the evening of April 7 and was considered suicide.

On April 4, the deputy director of the Subdistrict Construction Management Office of the collapsed building in Fenghua City, Zhejiang Province was found to have committed suicide.

It was reported on April 4 that Xu Yean, deputy director of the State Bureau of Letters and Calls, was found to have committed suicide in the office on the morning of April 10.

The abnormal death of officials suddenly became the focus of attention.

Among 54 officials who died abnormally, 23 committed suicide, accounting for 42.6% of the total number. Eight of them committed suicide by jumping off the building. Other suicide methods included hanging, burning charcoal, and drinking pesticides. Among the causes of suicide, mental illness such as depression is considered a major cause. At least eight officials committed suicide because of depression or suspected depression. According to public information, the highest rank among them is Bai Zhongren, the former president of China Railway Co., Ltd. On January 8, 8, Bai Zhongren had an accident at home, and the cause of death has not yet been disclosed. Family members said he was suffering from depression.

It is worth noting that drinking and accidents are the second most common cause of death, both of which are 9 people. Five of the officials who died in the accident were due to a traffic accident in Xinmi City, Henan Province on April 5, 2013. The five people are from Shanxian County, Henan Province, namely Li Huibin, chairman of the county CPPCC, Cao Guanjun, secretary of the county political and legal committee, Wu Chunsheng, deputy county magistrate, Zhang Zhongping, director of the County Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, and Yang Xiuqin, director of the County Tourism Bureau.

Most of the nine officials who died after drinking died of heart disease caused by drinking. On July 9, 2013, Fu Xiaoguang, the former deputy provincial cadre of Heilongjiang, led his relatives to the Jingbo Lake Scenic Area for a tour. The party secretary and director of the Tokyo City Forestry Bureau of Heilongjiang Province, which belongs to the scenic spot, hosted a public dinner at the Luyuan Island Hotel in the scenic spot. The next day, the party secretary of the bureau was found to have died of a heart attack in a hotel room. As a result, Fu Xiaoguang was kept under party inspection for a year and was demoted from deputy provincial level to director level.

In addition to "drinking to death," some officials "drank themselves to death." On July 2013, 7, a business owner from Hongxing Town, Yingshang County, Anhui Province went to the County Land and Resources Bureau to "inviting guests". Wang Mou, deputy chief of the Cadastral Unit, contacted Deputy Director Zhou Jipei, Deputy Director of the Office Yan Ying and other 10 people to participate in the meal. During the banquet, 5 cadres of the Land and Resources Bureau drank 4 bottles of liquor. After the meal, Yan Ying, who was involved in drinking, drove the "drinking" Wang home, and drove back to his home to rest by mistake, leaving Wang in the car downstairs. At 4:4 that day, when Wang was found, he had died of dehydration due to high temperature and heat stroke.

Another four people fell to their deaths, but there is no public information indicating whether they committed suicide, accidentally or were killed.

In addition, three officials were killed.

There were 6 officials who died from other reasons. Among them, the only person who was executed was Li Xingong, deputy director of the former Yongcheng Municipal Committee Office of Henan Province. He was sentenced to death for raping and molesting a child, and was executed on June 2013, 6.
