Spring is the busiest time of the year for millinery designer Penelope D'Alton. For the Spring Racing Carnival in Melbourne, this Prahran resident is doing his best to make charming headwear and hats. D'Alton said, "People come in with a large group of friends and choose my collection. And I also accept customization."
"The spring horse racing carnival is my busiest time. Even in the evening I have to seize the time to sew." D'Alton said that although the carnival is a festival to celebrate horse racing, she enjoys the carnival time. "Many women will dress up from head to toe. The Spring Horse Carnival is more like a day to show off their dresses," she said.
D'Alton will also participate in the MAArvelous Millinery Women's Hat Exhibition at the Melbourne Arts Centre on October 10nd. She will have about 2 exhibits. Some other top milliner designers will also participate in this annual event, which has raised the public's attention to mental health research.
