The day before yesterday, the Henan Cancer Center, Henan Cancer Hospital, and Henan Cancer Prevention and Treatment Office issued the "2013 Henan Cancer Registration Annual Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Annual Report"), systematically reporting the malignancy of the population in the Henan Cancer Registration Area in 2010 The prevalence of tumor incidence and death. It is understood that it is the first time in our province to report the incidence and death of malignant tumors in the province in the form of annual registration reports.

100 out of every 23 people who die are due to cancer

When it comes to cancer, everyone frowns, and this "demon" has been on a significant rise for several years.

The "Annual Report" shows that in 2010, the incidence of malignant tumors in the province's tumor registration areas was 239.00 per 10, and an average of 27 new cancers occurred every hour.

"For every 100 people who die, 23 people are because of cancer, and more than 30 years ago, 100 people for every 10 people who died were because of cancer." said Lu Jianbang, a researcher at the Henan Provincial Office of Cancer Prevention and Treatment. This means that in our province , 4 in 5 to 1 people may develop cancer.

In terms of death, the "Annual Report" shows that in our province, the mortality rate of malignant tumors is 153.65/10. Based on this calculation, about 15.3 people in our province are killed by cancer each year.

Among them, lung cancer, stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, and breast cancer are the main malignant tumors that threaten the lives and health of residents in Henan Province.

Compared with the national incidence of malignant tumors, the incidence of esophageal cancer and female breast cancer in our province is significantly higher than the national level, while the incidence of colorectal cancer is lower than the national average.

It is understood that the registered population in this "Annual Report" covers approximately 1378.3 million, accounting for 2010% of the province's population at the end of 14.66. Researcher Sun Xibin, director of the Institute of Tumor Epidemiology, Henan Cancer Institute and head of the Henan Cancer Prevention and Treatment Office, introduced that the above-mentioned provincial data comes from 16 cancer registries in the province, distributed in 12 cities and regions in the province, including urban registries 3 and 13 rural registries. They are Dancheng County, Huixian City, Jiyuan City, Linzhou City, Lushan County, Luoshan County, Luoyang City, Neixiang County, Sanmenxia City, Shenqiu County, Xiping County, Yanshi City, Yucheng County, Yuzhou City, Luohe City, and Lucheng District of Luohe City.

The incidence of cancer is higher in men than in women

The "Annual Report" shows that in 2010, there were 32942 new cases in the province's tumor registration areas, of which 18486 were males and 14456 were females. Why do cancers prefer men? Lu Jianbang believes that the current reasons are not very clear. It is generally believed that men have a higher chance of social activities and social exposure than women, so the risk of cancer is also higher.

From a geographical point of view, adding all cancers together, the incidence and mortality of cancer in rural areas are slightly higher than in urban areas. "This is probably because compared to rural areas, the medical conditions in cities are better." Of course, Lu Jianbang also emphasized that there are differences in the incidence of different cancers between urban and rural areas. For example, the incidence of lung cancer is higher in cities than in rural areas. Esophageal cancer and cervical cancer have a higher incidence in rural areas than in urban areas.

Which age group is most at risk of cancer?

The "Annual Report" shows that the age-specific incidence of all malignant tumors in the cancer registration area of the province is at a low level in the age group of 0-39 years old, the incidence rate is rising rapidly in the group over 40 years old, and the incidence rate in the urban area over 85 years old is at the highest level , While the incidence rate of the group over 75 years old in rural areas is at the highest level, and the incidence rate drops after 80 years of age. The trend of changes in urban and rural areas is basically the same.

At the same time, the "Annual Report" shows that the age distribution of patients with malignant tumor deaths in the province's tumor registration areas is at a low level before the age of 45. The mortality rate of male tumor patients over 50 years old has increased significantly, and the mortality rate of female patients over 55 years old. At the beginning, there was a large increase, and it increased with age. Tumor patients in urban and rural areas reached the highest in the 85-year-old age group.

Lung cancer ranks first in the incidence of malignant tumors in the province’s cancer registration areas, followed by stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, cervical cancer, cranial nervous system cancer, uterine body cancer and leukemia, and the top 1 Malignant tumors accounted for 10% of all malignant tumors.

Among men, lung cancer ranks first in the incidence of cancer, followed by gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, and colorectal cancer. As for women, breast cancer is the first among women in the province, followed by esophageal cancer, lung cancer, stomach cancer, and liver cancer. The top 1 malignant tumors in women account for 1% of all malignant tumors.
