The Shorten government under the Labor Party will provide a more equitable Long Stay Parent visa (Long Stay Parent visa) so that Australian families from immigrant and multicultural communities can reunite with their relatives.

Immigrants and multicultural communities rebuild their homes and lives in Australia, but the existing visa options to reunite with parents and grandparents who are still overseas are limited and expensive, and some have to wait up to 50 years.

Many elderly parents who want to reunite with their families have to travel to Australia as short-term tourist visitors. Their travel between the two countries is costly, frustrating, unregulated and often exhausting.

The Liberal Party’s unfair provisional sponsored parent visas are totally inconsistent with what they promised in the 2016 elections-adding unfair terms and making families waiting for reunion pay higher fees.

What's more, the most ruthless and cruel aspect of the Liberal Party's visa is to restrict the visa to a pair of parents in the family, forcing the family to choose between in-laws and in-laws.

Can you imagine a family sitting down to discuss which pair of parents or grandparents will choose to come to Australia for reunion? This is what the Liberal Party wants Australia's multicultural and immigrant communities to do.

The Labor Party’s fairer parental long-term residence visa will allow both parents to reunite with their families and allow all grandparents to spend quality time with their grandchildren.

Labor Party's fairer long-term residence visa for parents

  • No upper limit for visa
  • A family can be reunited with parents on both sides
  • AU$2500 for a five-year visa
  • Three-year visa 1250 Australian dollars
  • Renewable in Australia

Liberal Party's unfair temporary sponsored parent visa

  • The visa limit is set at 1
  • Limited to one parent of a family
  • Five-year visa 1 Australian dollars
  • Three-year visa 5000 Australian dollars
  • Cannot renew within Australia

When the Liberal Party forced the family to make a choice to reunite with their parents-in-law and father-in-law, or choose which grandparents could meet their grandchildren to enjoy the family, the Liberal Party violated their offer to immigrants and multicultural Australians. Promise of

The Liberal Party’s unfair provisional sponsored parent visa to Australian immigrants and multicultural communities is a promise that abandons voters and proves that Scott Morrison cannot be trusted.

The Labor Party’s fairer long-term residence visas for parents are more affordable for families, unlike the expensive visa fees of the Liberal Party-visiting relatives with full visas requires paying up to 4 Australian dollars.

The Labour Party understands that modern Australia is a multicultural Australia, which is why we attach great importance to the fact that families can spend time together to help each other.

Only the Shorten government under the Labour Party can enable Australian immigrants and multicultural communities to achieve true diversity and equality (fair go) and provide a fairer long-term residence visa for parents.
