ATP巡回赛官方2月3日透露，费德勒在接受采访时确认将在3月8日于多哈进行的ATP250分级比赛中复出。

中新网客户端报道，39岁的费德勒表示：“我想再次庆祝伟大的胜利，为此我准备经历漫长而艰难的道路。”费德勒同时表示今年自己的主要目标是温网和东京奥运会。“很长一段时间以来，我一直在考虑何时何地复出，我想在一个小规模的比赛中复出，这样压力也会小一些。”

After losing to Djokovic in the Australian Open semi-finals last year, Federer never participated in a formal game.In February last year, he announced through his personal social media that he had undergone knee surgery and that he would miss a series of games including the French Open, but he would return in the grass season in June.

但因为疫情，费德勒的复出计划并未实施，他也在6月宣布提前结束自己的2020赛季，此后他的膝盖接受了二次手术，痊愈之后的费德勒，即将重新出现在赛场上。
