阿什利也提到，母亲吉尔没有收到来自现任第一夫人梅拉尼娅（Melania
Trump）的联络。她说：「不，我不认为他们有做传统的礼仪，这是很不幸，但我认为我们对此感觉还可以。」传统而言，即将卸任的第一夫人会邀请新任第一夫人茶聚和参观白宫，并与官邸职员见面。
