澳洲东部新南威尔士州(New South
Wales)近期下了破纪录的持续大雨,爆发60年来最严重的洪灾,当地1.8万居民被迫离开家乡。不仅人们纷纷往高处、安全处避难,大雨也侵袭野生动物的栖息地,大批的蜘蛛和蛇跟着「躲进」屋内避难。
综合媒体报导,澳洲东岸部分地区降雨量达1000毫米,且预期可能还会持续整个星期,疯狂的降雨导致河水暴涨,切断了道路和桥梁,连野生动物的栖息地都受到影响。有民众目击,成千上百只蜘蛛在洪水来临前爬上了围墙、栅栏,然后冲进了屋内,部分没有来得及逃离的蜘蛛就倒在门口「横尸遍野」。
不只是蜘蛛,有些喜好干燥的爬虫类也趁着洪水侵扰,大剌剌闯进了人类居住的屋内。有民众发现家中出现许多蛇,他们爬到屋内较干燥、温暖的地方,然后就赖着不走,而那些还停留在石头和树木底下未逃离的蛇,都被污浊的泥水淹没。
爬虫类专家寇瑞(Cory
Kerewaro)表示,潮湿的环境提供蛇类一个完美的狩猎场,雨后出现的青蛙、小动物是它们的美味佳肴。寇瑞也提醒居民,不要试图去碰触那些闯入的蛇,因为有些种类具有毒性,一旦被攻击可能会造成生命的危险。
